This full-time position oversees the technical theater operations of assigned performances and events held at the Grunin Center, at the Gia Prima Theater, and in ancillary locations on the Ocean County College campus. This position also provides assistance to designated Grunin Center and GPAA Administrators by supporting production and technical operations and activities; helping to train technical crew members; and working as a part of the technical crew on assigned shows. Duties and Responsibilities

Oversees the technical operations of assigned performances/events on the Main Stage of the Grunin Center, in the Gia Prima Theater, and in auxiliary location at Ocean County College as assigned by the immediate manager and designated administrators
Provides training and mentoring of temporary technical crew workers and GPAA/OCVTS teachers, staff, and students
Works as part of the technical crew on assigned shows on the Main Stage, in the Gia Prima Theater, and in auxiliary locations at OCC as needed
Completes the technical advance and serves as the primary technical contact for productions/events in the Gia Prima Theater; Works in direct partnership with immediate manager on efficient and effective fulfillment of artist contracts
Monitors the condition of equipment in the Gia Prima Theater including, but not limited to, lighting, sound, and rigging equipment; Performs or arranges for the repair and replacement within budgetary constraints; Identifies and coordinates short- and long-term maintenance schedules and capital requests with immediate manager
Coordinates the hospitality needs for assigned shows
Maintains a safe and clean working environment and instructs crew in safety procedures and equipment use; Reports hazardous conditions to appropriate departments immediately

Requirements

Associate’s Degree and certification in technical theater related fields; or 10 years of hand’s-on experience in technical theater including the operation and preventative maintenance of sound, lighting, stage carpentry, and rigging.
Three years of increasingly responsible and verifiable experience working in a performing arts center or theater that involved advancing touring presentations
Ability to serve as a team, project or production leader and assist with the oversight and/or training of temporary technical crew members
Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on the use of Excel, and related theater/event coordination software or databases
