Grounds For Sculpture is seeking a part-time Membership Assistant to join the Membership team. Under the direction of the Director of Membership, the Membership Assistant supports the daily operations of the Membership team through administrative, logistical, and strategic work to help the GFS Membership program continue to grow and deepen its impact. This Assistant role will play a vital part in Membership within the Development department and serves as a liaison between Membership and Guest Services teams. The Membership Assistant will ideally work a Friday-Monday schedule and requires working on 1-2 weekend days.

Duties and Responsibilities

Grounds For Sculpture (GFS) is at the beginning of a long path toward building a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive (EDI) institution. This Assistant role will play a vital part in Membership within the Development department and serves as a liaison between Membership and Guest Services teams. The Membership Assistant will ideally work a Friday-Monday schedule and requires working on 1-2 weekend days.

As the ideal candidate, you have customer service and administrative experience – especially working with a Development database – and understand the important and essential nature of this work, coupled with the drive to take on additional responsibilities as you grow with the department. You are interested in learning more about customer service, nonprofit development, membership, fundraising, member-donor stewardship, and engagement events. You are confident working in a professional yet relatable manner with a variety of stakeholders, from members, volunteers, and the general public, to Board members and major donors.

Duties and Responsibilities
• Responsible for effectively supporting a growing membership program and managing the accompanying database of constituents, including but not limited to – processing membership payments in the Blackbaud Altru system, compiling routine reports, corresponding with members via phone and email in a timely matter, selling memberships to potential members, assisting with membership mailings and the eMembership digital app, cleaning database and mailing lists, assisting with membership events and trainings, assisting with training Guest Services staff on membership applications in Altru and eMembership, and ensuring staff are aware of all necessary membership information that is required.
• Will work closely with Membership Associate, particularly in relation to processing memberships and timely membership welcome acknowledgement letters, and related operational support. Additionally, assist with information gathering, research, prospecting, and identifying areas for data clean up and streamlining in the database management system.
• Work with Finance team to assure appropriate tracking and accounting of membership sales.
• Serve as an ambassador for Grounds For Sculpture to help foster a culture of inclusion for all members, donors, volunteers, and guests.
• Coordinate with Marketing Department to ensure Membership material timelines are managed appropriately and activities are promoted.
• Prepare and review content for publishing on website and Newscasting newsletter.
• Perform general office duties, attend meetings, assist with appointments and calendars.
• All other duties as assigned

Requirements

Requirements
• Minimum of 1 year working within a nonprofit fundraising and/or customer service environment, or transferrable/relatable experience.
• High School diploma
• Knowledge of fundraising processes preferred
• Strong database skills (Altru experience a plus)
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills; proficient in standard word processing, spreadsheet, and database software applications
• Maintain poise and patience when dealing with the public, as well as with major and high-profile members and donors, and the ability to act with diplomacy and grace under pressure.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication, including excellent interpersonal, networking, and presentation skills.
• Ability to develop and maintain positive and productive relationships with members, donors, volunteers, visitors, Board, and colleagues.
• Must possess the highest degree of discretion and confidentiality.
• Work 1-2 weekend days, and occasional evenings for scheduled events
