We have a part-time opportunity for a dynamic Development Assistant. The Development Assistant will play a key role in supporting our fundraising events, donor engagement, and community outreach efforts. The Assistant will ensure that the administrative processes which support the fundraising effort run efficiently, and will spend significant time supporting events and performing research.

Hours & Pay: 24 hours a week at $17 per hour. Some evenings and weekends required, as well as flexibility around special events.

Duties and Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the position are as follows:

Fundraising Events Support:
Provides staff support and leadership to event chairs and related committees formed to help secure sponsors and participants
Assist as needed in running database reports for event invitation lists
Track RSVPs and assist with follow-up calls to invitees
Confirm details with venues/hosts, handle deliveries and other basic logistics


Community Outreach:
Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities. Work with other WheatonArts departments to share and coordinate community activities
Work with the Development Manager/Volunteer Coordinator to research and active any corporate volunteer opportunities
Maintains relationships with collaborative partners and cultivate new ones and assists in the coordination of special events including donor/partner/volunteer appreciation activities


General Administrative Support:
Research and identify potential new funding sources for foundation, individual, corporate and government support
Assist the Salesforce Specialist with database entry
Assist with annual appeal and membership mailings and acknowledgements
Other duties that support the needs of the Development Department, as assigned


Reports to: Development Manager

Requirements

Qualifications:
An interest in the arts and strong computer and general office skills required; database, events coordination, marketing and customer service experience a plus

Education: Minimum undergraduate college degree, a concentration in nonprofit management, arts administration or fundraising preferred

Experience: 2-3 years related experience

Abilities:
Prior experience with fundraising database software management (Experience with SalesForce a plus)
Prior event planning experience
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; flexibility and ability to work in a team environment
Strong computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office products required
Ability to work independently, solve problems and actively seek assistance when needed
Strong attention to detail
Discretion and confidentiality with respect to donor records
