The House Associate will be responsible for set-up and breakdown of concession inventory, selling to patrons preshow and intermission and/or assisting at the front door/house as an Usher. House Associates will work at different posts including Front Door, Concessions, and in the House. Primary functions include customer service, selling food, drinks, handling inventory/money, scanning tickets, and ushering. PLEASE NOTE: Because UCPAC serves alcohol, YOU MUST BE 18 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION.
Duties and Responsibilities
Concessions:• Preparing concession stands with inventory to be sold to patrons.
• Maintaining a clean concession area.
• Serving concessions to patrons including alcoholic beverages.
• Selling merchandise.
• Accurate and responsible handling and reporting of all sales.
• Providing support to Front of House and client hospitality Back of House as needed.
• Following all emergency protocols and guiding audience members to the exits in an orderly manner.
Usher:
• Welcoming guests in a polite and friendly manner.
• Checking and scanning tickets and directing guests to their seats.
• Distributing programs, brochures, and other materials.
• Informing guests about the location of the restrooms, refreshments, and exits.
• Tending to guests' comfort and assisting them with any questions or problems.
• Assisting patrons with disabilities or other impairments, as needed.
• Providing support to Concessions and client hospitality Back of House as needed.
• Enforcing event rules and relevant health and safety regulations.
• Ensuring that the lobby and facilities are neat and organized.
• Following all emergency protocols and guiding audience members to the exits in an orderly manner.
Requirements
• Concession or usher experience preferred.• Ability to lift heavy items such as: cases of water, soda, stanchions, etc. (25 lbs.)
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while rotating between different posts
• on different nights.
• Available to work weekday evenings, weekends, and some weekdays and holidays.
• If hired, must complete a Food Handler’s Guide before you can be scheduled.
• You must be 18 years of age or older due to the serving of alcohol.
• High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency required.
• Previous experience working with the public in a customer service environment.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Problem solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure during sometimes stressful situations.
• The ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Responsible and ethical money handling.
• Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described herein represent those that must be met by a House Associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the House Associate is regularly required to reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. They are frequently required to stand for long periods of time, climb and descend ramps/stairs in dim lighting conditions, and to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch. They must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus and to see in dim lighting environments. They will regularly use a two-way radio handset or headset.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the House Associate is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but is occasionally loud.
