Part-Time Paint & Sip Art Instructor/Event Host
West Orange, NJ
The Happy Brush Art Studio
Part Time
Posted September 30, 2026
The Happy Brush Art Studio is seeking a talented, outgoing and energetic Part-Time Paint & Sip Art Instructor / Event Host to join our growing team. We currently host mobile Paint & Sip events, private parties, fundraisers, corporate events and pop-ups throughout Northern New Jersey, with plans to open a permanent studio.
We are looking for more than an art instructor. The right person will be an entertainer and host who can confidently lead a room, connect with guests, keep the energy going and turn a painting class into a fun and memorable experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead fun, engaging, step-by-step acrylic painting experiences for adults, children and mixed groups.
• Demonstrate painting techniques while clearly explaining each step.
• Entertain and engage guests throughout the event—not simply provide painting instructions.
• Confidently lead the room, encourage conversation, create excitement and maintain positive energy throughout the experience.
• Provide individual assistance and encouragement to guests of different skill levels.
• Help create a welcoming, fun and interactive atmosphere that represents The Happy Brush brand.
• Assist with event setup, including easels, canvases, paints, brushes and other materials.
• Assist with breakdown, cleanup and packing materials following events.
• Interact professionally with clients, venues and guests.
• Travel to private parties, restaurants, fundraisers, corporate events and other event locations throughout Northern New Jersey.
• Follow The Happy Brush's class format, event procedures and customer-service standards.

Requirements

• REQUIRED: Previous experience teaching art, leading Paint & Sip classes, hosting events, or providing group instruction. Applicants without relevant teaching/group-instruction experience will not be considered.
• Must be entertaining, energetic, outgoing and highly engaging. This position is not just about giving painting instructions. We are looking for someone with personality who can command a room, connect with guests, make people laugh, keep the energy going and create a memorable experience.
• Must be comfortable talking and interacting with guests while actively painting and demonstrating.
• Confident being the host and personality of the event, not simply the instructor.
• Able to read the room and adjust your energy and interaction based on the group.
• Comfortable dressing up and participating in themed attire for special events and celebrations when appropriate.
• Comfortable participating in and helping create fun, engaging social media content for The Happy Brush, including photos, videos, behind-the-scenes moments and promotional content. Must be comfortable on camera and willing to bring personality and creativity to our content.
• Strong acrylic painting skills and ability to recreate paintings from reference images.
• Friendly, patient and encouraging with participants of different ages and skill levels.
• Dependable, punctual and professional.
• Flexible availability is essential, as event dates, times and locations vary.
• Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to event locations throughout Northern New Jersey.
• Comfortable assisting with setup, cleanup and handling art materials.
• Able to work independently while following The Happy Brush's teaching format and event procedures.
• Portfolio required. Applicants must submit examples of their artwork.

How To Apply

$22–$30 per hour, based on experience. Instructors are typically scheduled for approximately 4 hours per event, including setup, instruction and cleanup. This is currently a part-time position with the potential to grow into a full-time opportunity as The Happy Brush expands and works toward opening a permanent studio. We are looking for someone who is interested in growing with the company long-term. To apply, please submit your resume and art portfolio, along with a brief introduction describing your experience teaching art, leading Paint & Sip events, hosting events or working with groups. Applicants selected to move forward will be asked to complete a brief painting and instruction demonstration as part of the interview process.
