The Hunterdon Art Museum seeks a part-time Development Officer who will be responsible for seeking funding from corporations, foundations, and government entities. Reporting to the Director of Development and working collaboratively with the Executive Director, the Development Officer will strengthen the Museum’s fundraising base. This position may also include involvement with special events and working with the Director of Development on individual giving.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

 Manage the grant life cycle of a growing portfolio of funders
 Research and identify new sources of corporate, foundation and government support
 Write grant proposals
 Develop budgets for grant proposals
 Ensure compliance and reporting to funders
 Manage grants calendar
 Seek sponsorships for Museum events and programs
 Assist with special events
 Other duties as needed or assigned

The Hunterdon Art Museum, a center for contemporary art, craft, and design, was founded in 1952 in a nineteenth century mill on the banks of the Raritan River. It presents more than a dozen exhibitions and offers more than 300 studio courses annually. Located in western New Jersey in Clinton, the Hunterdon Art Museum is 55 miles from New York City and 60 miles from Philadelphia.

The position offers great flexibility over your schedule! It requires an approximate 24-hour work week with the opportunity to work remotely for part of the time. Target salary of $22,000.

Requirements

The Development Officer should be a self-motivated and independent fundraiser. Traits that will help in the Museum’s small team environment include strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and effective and influential writing techniques. Knowledge of the New Jersey donor landscape and an interest in the visual arts are a plus.

Overall, the Development Officer must have significant fundraising experience with an emphasis on grant writing and grant management.
