Arts Ed NJ is the statewide voice for arts education and the performing arts affiliate for the National Federation of State High School Associations. Its mission is to create the proper conditions for arts learning to take place for the 1.4 million students attending nearly 2,400 schools in the state. Arts Ed NJ works directly with policy makers, the associations representing Principals, Supervisors, Educators, Parents, School Board Members, Superintendents and the discipline specific arts education associations (Dance, Music, Theatre and Visual Art) and all major cultural organizations. Arts Ed NJ leads the entire community through a focused commitment to research, advocacy, policy and communications while working to ensure access, participation, equity and quality for all students.

Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Direction and Vision aligned with organization goals and objectives
Fiscal Responsibility and Resource Management
Spokesperson, Advocate and Ambassador
Collaboration with key stakeholders, government agencies, policy makers and funders
External Relations and Governance
Equity-Diversity-Inclusion embedded in policies and practices
Organizational Resiliency and Team Empowerment
Personal Accountability to self-evaluate and look for ways to progress
Diplomacy and Interpersonal Skills to handle difficult or sensitive issues
Planning, Organization and Assessment of goals, risks, operationalizing priorities
Self-Starting initiatives with strong work ethics
Partnership with Board in ideas and dialogue
Community Partnerships and Relationships
Fundraising Leadership and Resource Development

Requirements

Five to ten years of progressive leadership experience in public, nonprofit or educational administration and management. A demonstrated commitment to workplace equity, diversity, inclusion, and access is necessary.

The candidate will have experience in arts education, particularly with programs involving standards development and implementation. Knowledge of the state of New Jersey and its surrounding arts communities, the arts education ecosystem as well as the political landscape will be helpful attributes.
