The College of Performing Arts (CPA) is seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications to provide marketing strategy, branding, promotional, and communications services for a 60+ annual performance season, academic work of the Departments of Music and Theatre & Dance, development, student recruitment and community arts education initiatives (including the Rowan Community Music School). This position will interact with a large community of faculty, staff, students, and vendors, and will play an integral role in ensuring coordination, timeliness, polish, and consistency across a high volume of materials.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Dean and in collaboration with the College of Performing Arts team members:

Create and implement content that promotes key messages, mission, and goals for the College of Performing Arts including academic performances, the Marie Rader Presenting Series, recruitment, academic work, community education, and development (content types include: email, social media, brochures, fliers, posters, invitations, calendar listings and digital monitors)

Research, write, and publish stories on Rowan Today and the CPA blog that promote key messages, mission, and goals for designated units within CPA

Develop and manage promotional materials and activities to expand audience engagement and maximize earned and contributed income

Coordinate marketing analytics; Prepare monthly marketing insights report for the Dean and Directors

Recruit, hire, and manage a team of student workers to assist in all areas of marketing and communications

Manage a marketing budget in compliance with Rowan’s central budget, purchasing, and accounts payable offices

Maintain active engagement in marketing and social media trends, best practices and technological advances relevant to marketing for the arts and higher education

Liaise regularly with a central University Relations & Publications office, and represent CPA in campus-wide University Communicators meetings, initiatives, and official ceremonies

Liaise regularly with the Admissions Marketing team and Alumni office; support collaborative campaigns and events across these teams as needed

Requirements

The successful candidate will have enthusiasm for and applicable experience in some combination of the following: website content development, blog article writing, SEO and key search words, geo-targeting research, digital marketing campaigns, brand building, advertising programs, video development, social media, performing arts marketing, higher education, project management, managing a team, copywriting, data analysis, email communications, graphic design, and accessible and inclusive communications.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (performing, creative, or fine/visual arts, communications, marketing, public relations, creative writing, advertising)

Minimum two (2) years of professional applicable experience (5+ years strongly preferred)

Preferred Characteristics: Strong writer, editor, listener, and collaborator. Skilled in working with college students. Highly self-directed, diplomatic, organized, and creative, with a strong sense of visual composition. Comfortable in a high-volume, fast-paced, dynamic work environment, and a passion for the performing arts. Experience in Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, and/or Anti-Racism work a plus.
